Precise classifications are not necessarily the only predictions that can result from the analysis of provenance data. Indeed, the nuance and randomness inherent in interpreting and inferring from such imprecise data often necessitates probabilistic interpretations. In this section, we identify publications that make use of probabilistic techniques to identify trends and predict possible future interactions in provenance data.
